Starchitect Zaha Hadid’s One Thousand Museum in the Park West neighborhood of Downtown Miami will be one of five featured in an upcoming documentary entitled Impossible Builds, which will air on PBS and Discovery Channel. Impossible Builds explores building complex structures such as One Thousand Museum from around the world. The 62-story, 709 foot, architectural work of art that sits on Museum Park and Biscayne Bay was handpicked by Discovery Channel due to the intricate engineering of the exoskeleton exterior. Pieces for the exoskeleton are prefabricated off-site and arrive in shipments from Dubai. The outer shell is made-up by close to 5,000 pieces sourced from glass fiber reinforced concrete which form the structural façade. Other projects that have been chosen for the series are Villa Resorts in Dubai and the thinnest skyscraper in New York City. The episode is expected to air in 2018 and is produced by Blink Films. One Thousand Museum has passed the halfway point and has an expected delivery date in 2018.
“It is an honor for the project to be spotlighted in this important documentary film. We could not think of a better way to immortalize the forward-thinking project to a global audience across continents through this important documentary,” said Louis Birdman, one of the co-developers for One Thousand Museum by Zaha Hadid Architects.

Frost Museum of Science to Take Over Operations at Museum Park's Science Barge
The Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science will take over operations of Museum Park's floating Science Barge when they open on May 8. The barge will undergo extensive renovation throughout the summer as it will be transformed into an environmental lab where it will supplement the museum's Aquarium and science exhibits with the surrounding marine life. The 120 foot Miami Science Barge opened in 2016 after it won the 2015 Knight Cities Challenge. It was designed by Nathalie Manzano and Dr. Ted Caplow and cost $1.2 million.
Patricia & Phillip Frost Museum of Science to Finally Open May 8
The years of waiting and watching are beginning to come to end at Miami's Museum Park as the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science has finally announced an opening date of May 8. The museum will be the second museum delivered following the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) which has been received by the public as a major hit and help complete the cultural and art initiatives in Miami's Arts and Entertainment district which also includes the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts and YoungArts.
The Frost Museum of Science has been a 5 year project, began construction in 2012 and has overcome many obstacles and roadblocks along the way including a $350 million price tag. Phillip and Patricia Frost had to help cover the rest of the cost of the construction after fundraising efforts failed to raise the necessary funds, missing the expected 2016 completion date. The Frost Museum of Science was designed by Grimshaw Architects, sits on 4 acres and features 4 different buildings in one, divided based on their field of study. There will be a planetarium, aquarium and feature 2 exhibit wings spread over 250,000 SF. The planetarium is 1-of-8 in the world featuring 8K resolution in 3D along with seating for 250 people. The museum claims on its website that it will take guests on a "journey from the ocean to the Everglades, from the human cell to outer space, investigating life as we know it." The building is working toward LEED Gold certification as part of their initiative to create a better planet. Tickets for the May 8 opening day are available on the museum's website.
Kirlin Group Brings 4th Lawsuit Against Design Team at the Patricia & Philip Frost Museum of Science
More drama at the construction site of the future Patricia & Philip Frost Museum of Science in Downtown's Museum Park. Kirlin Florida, a subsidiary of Kirlin Group, has joined Suffolk Construction and other contractors having filed suit in Miami-Dade County Circuit County. The suit alleges that design errors by architects and engineers forced the construction companies to backtrack on their work, making progress difficult and running costs. The design team also did not meet deadlines revising construction plans which then delayed the contractors from meeting their deadlines. Kirlin’s suit names Rodriguez and Architects Chartered, Fraga Engineers, Grimshaw Architects and DDA Engineers. The suit does not name the museum, which is a nonprofit and is located on county-owned land. There are three other currently active suits against the museum’s design team including from Suffolk, Baker Concrete Construction and Formrite Construction. The press team for the museum is holding to a December 2016 completion with an early 2017 opening date.

STK Miami Opens in Marquis Residences
The soft-opening of Me Miami has been so far a success, which recently moved closer to being completely open with the official opening of STK Miami in the lobby of Me Miami and Marquis Residences. The zoning permits the liquor license from the nearby late-night nightclubs including Heart and Space, so expect STK Miami to become a hopping place after-hours. The build-out features a modern restaurant concept right on Biscayne Blvd. and third-floor bar. The location is also walking distance from the Perez Art Museum, Frost Science Museum and American Airlines Arena.
Ten Museum Park
The Biscayne Wall formation of residential skyscrapers along Biscayne Boulevard continues to grow as Downtown Miami becomes a hustling and bustling metropolis. Soon One Thousand Museum and Paramount Miami World Center will soon be completed and opened amongst other exciting new buildings. The Biscayne Wall has been filling in since 2007, when the beautiful new Ten Museum Park stood high above the Park West area of Downtown Miami as the first building completed for the Biscayne Wall.
Ten Museum Park is an exclusive residential high-rise designed by Chad Oppenheim of Oppenheim Architecture + Design. The building rises 50 floors to 585 feet and features only 200 units. The white design reflects the heat from the sun and can withstand hurricane winds in excess of 140 mph. The building also includes 20,000 SF of office space on the lower levels as well as first-class amenities including multiple pools, gym, yoga studio, spa, valet, etc. The Spa is notably by Clinique La Prairie and is one of the largest in Miami at 21,000 SF. The pool deck features 7 infinity edge pools and 4 plunge pools. Floors are by Missoni and kitchen appliances by Miele.
While buildings will get newer and bigger, there is just something special about Ten Museum Park's location, design and vibe. The building is quite and homey, so you don't necessarily feel as if you live in a skyscraper. The lobby is small, which allows it to be quite and features everything that you may possibly need. Management keeps the building well run and it is poised to flourish as the Frost Science Museum, Venetian Causeway, One Thousand Museum and Paramount Miami World Center are completed.
