The lavish La Gorce Island mega-mansion, known as “OKTO” – marked by 260 feet of jaw-dropping waterfrontage – has sold for $75 million. Located on Miami Beach’s exclusive La Gorce Island gated community, the property went under contract just two weeks after it was listed with Nelson Gonzalez, Senior Vice President and top-producer at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices (BHHS) EWM Realty.
Located at 88 La Gorce Circle, the two-story estate – the collaborative vision of revered developer Todd Michael Glaser and architect Carlos Prio-Touzet – garnered the highest price ever paid for a single-family home in the guard-gated island enclave. It is additionally the second-most expensive single-family home sale to date for the City of Miami Beach. Neither the buyer nor seller was disclosed.
“Even among the extraordinary estates of La Gorce Island, OKTO has been a standout, as evidenced by how quickly it went under contract,” said Gonzalez. “The property’s prime and exclusive location, singular design, and monumental size have made it truly unique, and we knew how to effectively market those attributes to the most discerning buyers.”
The contemporary, resort-style retreat features nine bedrooms, 12 and three half-baths and wide views of the Bay and Intracoastal Waterway. Well-sited on a verdant, 1.1-acre lot (48,027 square feet), the residence is also known as one of the community’s largest single-family offerings.
In addition to a grand entrance that opens to a 100-foot-long living room with soaring ceilings, distinct architectural details throughout the mansion include a Guggenheim-inspired staircase, fine finishes, spectacular custom lighting, and floor-to-ceiling walls of glass. A chef’s kitchen, formal dining room, and gym complete the first floor, while an entertainment room, opulent primary suite with a sprawling closet and deluxe bath, and a wide terrace are well-appointed on the second level. Additional amenities include an elevator, two stately docks, a 100-foot pool overlooking the water, and a rooftop space for year-round entertaining and respite. There is also a guesthouse, five-car garage, and a two-bedroom staff quarters.
“It was a privilege to have facilitated this record transaction in only two weeks,” continued Nelson Gonzalez. “In 2021, we listed the property at $38.5 million and received two offers quickly, but the seller wasn’t ready to sell, so we took it off the market. Now, just four years later, we’ve sold it -- impressively for double that price. It is a true testament to the growth of the market and sustained strong demand for unique, ultra-luxury properties in Miami Beach. That plus our proven track record for successfully implementing strategic launches and hyper-targeted marketing of residences of this caliber continue to result in win-wins for buyers and sellers.”
The La Gorce Island enclave – marked by towering Royal Palms at its entrance and magnificent water views – is one of the most sought-after gated communities in the area. It has long been a haven for high-profile celebrities, including such famed past residents as Cher and Billy Joel. The enclave is minutes from the renowned La Gorce Country Club and golf course, Lincoln Road, Bal Harbour Shops, and is approximately 20 minutes from Miami International Airport. It is also well-protected by 24-hour roving security, including a patrol boat that circles the island each night.
