Starting November 29th and running through the first week of December, Miami Art Week attracts millions of visitors from across the globe to Miami’s sunny beach’s and luxurious enclaves for a celebration of art, design, fashion, style and culture. Miami Art Week brings together some of the world’s best artists, galleries, art collectors, designers and cultural icons for a week of art shows, installations, events and lavish parties. PROFILEmiami’s second edition of our Insiders Guide explores the high-energy art shows which pop-up across the city the first week of December each year. Art Collectors and visitors have the opportunity to explore the world’s leading art galleries all concentrated into select art shows which serve as pop-up museums and cultural hotspots. Art Miami, America’s foremost contemporary and modern art fair, and its sister fair, CONTEXT Art Miami, will kick-off Miami Art Week 2022, opening on Tuesday, November 29th with an invitation-only VIP Preview evening with public days beginning Wednesday, November 30th and running through Sunday, December 4th.
Art Miami continually showcases the most significant artworks of the 20th and 21st centuries and is a “can’t miss” event for collectors, curators, museum professionals and art enthusiasts. Since its launch in 2002, Art Basel Miami Beach has served as a dynamic platform uniquely bridging the art scenes of North and South America, Europe, and beyond. The edition marking its 20th anniversary will be the largest to date, featuring 282 exhibitors from 38 countries and territories – more than half of which hail from the Americas. In addition to its Galleries, Positions, Nova, Survey, and Edition sectors, the fair will host 20 large-scale projects as part of the Meridians sector, 29 curated installations within exhibitors’ booths in the Kabinett sector, as well as nine panels with leading art world voices in its renowned Conversations series. Additionally, this year at Art Basel Louis Vuitton will exhibit selected works by a curated ensemble of the world’s most-renowned artists.
Art Basel began in the 1970’s in Basel, Switzerland as an art fair to cater to a new wave of art collectors. Art Basel expanded to the United States with its first sister fair, Art Basel Miami Beach, in 2002. The show attracts some of the highest-end art galleries and most discerning collectors to the Miami Beach Convention Center.

Design Miami/ returns to Miami Beach for its 18th edition, curated by Curatorial Director, Maria Cristina Didero. This year’s program will explore the theme of The Golden Age: Looking to the Future, celebrating a tomorrow of our own creation. The programming this year offers vibrant, diverse and thought-provoking responses to this thematic, which speculates how design and innovation might lead us to a better, more harmonious and more sustainable collective future. The fair takes place in Pride Park, opposite the Miami Beach Convention Center.
This year there will be a variety of activations throughout Design Miami/. For the first time Dolce & Gabbana has partnered with Design Miami/ to present the brand’s unique Alta Gioielleria Collection. Dolce&Gabbana Alta Gioielleria represents a universe of creativity where the invention of new forms is combined with the preservation of Italy’s renowned tradition of fine jewelry-making.
Audi x Andrés Reisinger will present a new immersive and experiential digital installation in cooperation with digital artist and designer Andrés Reisinger. FENDI will present Triclinium by Lukas Gschwandtner, which consists of wearable canvas sculptures referencing historical portraits of women reclining on furniture.
Kohler has revealed a partnership with global artist/designer, Nada Debs. Together, they present Trancendence, a custom hammam that will offer a three-room immersive experience for visitors to Design Miami/2022. The installation, along with various onsite and digital activations, pays homage to cultural inclusivity, environmental sustainability, and heritage through design and innovation.
Maison Perrier-Jouët collaborated with Paris based artist, architect and designer Garance Vallée to create Planted Air, an installation which conveys her vision of one nature, in which all life forms are united, to the point of forming a single entity. Planted Air offers a reinterpretation of the ecosystem of the Champagne vineyard, in which visitors are invited to follow a path through a series of sculpted vines, which appear to be rooted in the chalk-rich earth of Champagne, reaching upwards towards the sky.

ABOUT: Matthew Chevallard’s THE OFFICE. Gallery and F2T Gallery present I DONT NEED IT, BUT I WANT IT, a group exhibition featuring artists Callum Eaton, Eduardo Sarabia, Jonathan Casella, Kristopher Raos, Saj Issa, Sam Keller, Stephanie H. Shih, and Tim Irani. The selected artists will bring forth a collective body of work highlighting the global culture crisis of mass production and capitalism, emphasizing the cliche or kitschy elements of our cultures, through the use of irony and pop art elements. THE OFFICE., founded by art patron and avid collector, Matthew Chevallard, educates the public on art collecting and presents exceptionally curated and co-curated exhibitions, within the contemporary art world. One of the hottest immersive art activations in Miami is on showcase for Miami Art Week. Wind your way through a mirrored labyrinth by Es Devlin, discover a transcendent digital environment by teamLab, and enter an enveloping light-based Ganzfeld work by James Turrell. Turrell’s objectless art of experiences, pioneering Light and Space, made him the natural choice for the first slate of exhibitions currently filling a huge former warehouse in Miami occupied by Superblue, the new commercial venture exclusively dedicated to immersive installations. Here visitors can have their depth perception dizzyingly dissolved by one of Turrell’s ‘Ganzfelds’, the colored light works he has been fine-tuning since 1976.
Craig Robins Collection: Two Of The Same Kind

ABOUT: The Craig Robins Collection consists of contemporary art and innovative design, displaying within the Miami Design District headquarters of DACRA and rotating on a bi-annual basis. This year, “Two of The Same Kind” highlights the work of Marlene Dumas and Jana Euler, two artists whose painting and drawing practices are broadly represented in the Collection holdings. The theme of dualism threads through two portraits by pop icon Andy Warhol, both commissioned decades ago by Craig Robin’s mother and Jackie Soffer’s mother separately, acting as a spectacular coincidence. More than a hundred works on view present an expansive overview of figurative art from the last three decades. The multifaceted Collection also features design pieces by the recently acquired Sasha Gordon and by established favorites such as Zaha Hadid, Jean Prouvé, Marc Newson and Marteen Bass.
Tesafaye Urgessa at Saatchi Yates Miami in Miami Design District

ABOUT: This November, Saatchi Yates Miami will temporarily open a solo exhibition of new work by Ethiopian Contemporary artist Tesfaye Urgessa to co-inside with his presentation at the Rubell Museum, opening December 2022. Saatchi Yates Miami is situated in the Miami Design District, next to the Institute of Contemporary Art and the de la Cruz Collection. Born in 1983 in Ethiopia, Tesfaye studied under master Tadesse Mesfin at Staatlichen Akademie in Stuttgart, and later emigrated to work in Germany. Through these experiences, Ugressa connected Ethiopian iconography and a deep fascination with traditional figurative painting to create a unique and striking language which portrays race and the politics of identity.

Powered by MoonPay, the 5-day festiva is free to the registered general public and will transform Downtown Miami will feature leading artists, NFT communities, industry titans, influencers, and performers from brands like Christie’s, Instagram, Porsche, Alo Yoga, Art Blocks and more.

Miami Worldcenter Launches $5M Public Art Program in Downtown Miami
Miami Worldcenter, a 27-acre $4 billion mixed use development transforming the heart of Downtown Miami, has brought on renowned international art dealer and curator Jeffrey Deitch and Miami-based curatorial collective PRIMARY to spearhead a $5 million public art initiative that will transform the streets and buildings of the ‘city within a city’ into a permanent outdoor art museum.
Now on display, the first work to be completed as part Miami Worldcenter’s new public art initiative is a massive colorful mural by contemporary artist Nina Chanel Abney, which graces the walls of a pedestrian tunnel and the exterior façade of a parking garage at the development. Other museum-worthy artists confirmed to exhibit pieces at Miami Worldcenter include Woody De Othello, Viktor El-Saieh, Nick Cave and Trenton Doyle Hancock, among others.
