Inside Miami Herbert Business School's Accelerated MBA in Real Estate: The Best Way To Take Your Career In Real Estate To The Next Level

University of Miami Patti and Allan Herbert Business School

Miami, and South Florida in general, are growing hubs for commercial and residential real estate, making the University of Miami Patti and Allan Herbert Business School one of the best places to study for those looking to take their real estate careers to the next level. The Miami Herbert Business School’s Accelerated MBA in Real Estate prepares students to succeed in commercial real estate market careers while offering students the opportunity to participate in two paid internships with some of the top firms in the commercial real estate industry. The students also become proficient at Argus, making them an attractive candidate to major firms who use the real estate software.

The Accelerated Real Estate MBA combines the expertise of Miami Herbert Business School strengths in management education with the School of Architecture, a leader in New Urbanism. In the program students learn from global real estate leaders, strengthen their business foundation with a real estate focus, and have the opportunity for up to two paid internships with firms, such as Brookfield, Fortune International, Mast Capital, Nuveen, Related Group, The Kislak Company, and more. Each student is paired with an industry mentor for career advice and networking connections throughout their time in the program.

The program leaves graduates well networked in the Miami real estate industry and prepared for a successful career in commercial real estate. Students study topics such as real estate finance, private equity modeling, underwriting, real estate development, ground leases and other essential topics. They also work in real time on a development plan for a local property and meet with industry mentors to work through the development process in real time with hands on oversight.

“The Accelerated Real Estate MBA really immersed me in multiple sides of the commercial real estate industry that I had not been exposed to before and it really helped drive my career forward. Even if you are coming from a background in real estate the classes such as real estate finance and real estate development give you the tools you need to contribute from day one at a large real estate shop," said PROFILEmiami Co-Founder Demetri Demascus who graduated from the program in 2021.

Students are provided many intimate networking opportunities with industry leaders throughout the program. The Miami Herbert Business School attracts local, national, and international industry experts to the annual University of Miami Real Estate Impact Conference, which Accelerated Real Estate MBA students have the opportunity to attend with real estate titans such as Stuart Miller, Edgardo Defortuna, and Allen Morris. Last year featured speakers included John Buck of The John Buck Company as well as Miami-developers Armando Codina and Jay Massiman. Roy March of Eastdil and Ralph Rosenberg of KKR were featured last year along with Jonathan Tisch.

The school also hosts an annual Impact Investing in Commercial Real Estate Competition, showcasing innovators and trendsetters who are shaping the future of real estate. In the past, teams from University of Miami, Wharton, Colombia, and Cornell have all placed in the competition. Both the conference and the competition give students exclusive access to extensive networking opportunities.

Miami Herbert Business School's Accelerated MBA in Real Estate is the best way to take your career in real estate to the next level.
