Inside Canarias At Downtown Doral's Exquisite Luxury Homes With Jim Carr of CC Homes
There are few projects under construction in the United States where an entire live, work, play city complete with community programming, a variety of residential options, schools and diverse retail are coming to life. One such project is coming to Downtown Doral. The $1 billion, 250-acre master-planned community will feature single-family homes, townhomes, apartments, condos, nearly one million square-feet of office space and 180,000 square-feet of retail when complete, along with a City Hall and charter school. PROFILEmiami had the exclusive opportunity to tour the community with veteran developer Jim Carr, a partner at CC Homes who is one of the developers building Downtown Doral’s first luxury single-family offering, Canarias at Downtown Doral. Driving around with Carr, the recent popularity of Downtown Doral was clearly visible with students flooding the sidewalks on their way home from school and families filling the retail and recreational areas.
“What my partner Armando Codina has done creating Downtown Doral is spectacular. He curated an excellent mix of retail, offices, green spaces… and a variety of residential offerings were always part of the vision. CC Homes completed 52 luxury townhomes in 2016, and we saw how hot the area had become. There was a need for family friendly residences in a walkable urban neighborhood. Downtown Doral’s charter school also emerged as extremely desirable. When the adjacent White Course property became available, so did the opportunity to expand Downtown Doral, so we bought it to provide that single-family home component,” explains Carr, who has been developing in South Florida since 1976.
Canarias at Downtown Doral will be the community’s very first offering of single-family home residences with 423 single-family estate homes, as well as 52 townhomes in a mosaic of seven residential collections. Homes range in size from three to six bedroom floorplans and single-family homes are priced from $590,000 to $1.5 million, with townhomes starting at $630,000. The streetscapes between the homes will be lushly landscaped and add to a feel of tranquility and community, promoting a friendly, family community.
“Canarias is the only place in Miami where you can get an urban single-family home. We’ve designed these homes so that they offer plenty of space for growing families and so that you can expand beyond your yard, without getting in your car,” Carr continued.
CC Homes recently launched a selection of model homes which PROFILEmiami was able to tour including the Bali, Fiji and Maui. Upon entering, the size of the homes becomes evident where buyers will find well thought-out layouts that maximize living space while also allowing privacy for a large family to live together without feeling on-top of each-other. Jim Carr explained the thought that goes into the design including high-ceilings, 4’+ wide staircases, 8’+ interior doors, garages, and outdoor space which elevate the home’s level of luxury and livability. Carr also explained that as developers they do not cut corners, delivering homes with Italkraft cabinetry along with Wolf and Subzero appliances. Outdoors many of the homes come with summer kitchens as well as stunningly landscaped pools and garden areas.
Other major perks he mentioned are that buyers receive preferred access to Downtown Doral’s A+ rated charter school, access to the Residences Clubhouse complete with pool, tiki hut, cabanas, and fitness center; as well as a complimentary social membership to Trump National Doral Miami, home to the Blue Monster golf course, with a luxurious spa and three restaurants.
